Rainbow Play Systems to Expand in South Dakota

(Pierre) -- The availability of the TruServe Building prompted Rainbow Play Systems to step up its plans to expand in Brookings, Gov. Bill Janklow announced today, Thursday, August 1.

Rainbow Play Systems, which manufactures residential play equipment, will purchase the TruServe property, which includes 518,000 square feet of warehouse space, 35.3 acres of land, 39 loading docks and a rail spur.

“The company plans to close its Minnesota operation by 2003 and start consolidating into its new facility immediately,” Janklow said. “The expansion will result in the creation of 100 jobs during the next three years,” Janklow said, bringing Rainbow’s employment to more than 300 in Brookings.

Greg Foster, owner and CEO, said this was a good move for the company. "We're excited that our entire company will be located in Brookings," he said. In addition to the news of the purchase of the building, Rainbow Play Systems also announced its plans to introduce a new commercial product line for 2003.

“This company has huge growth potential,” Janklow said, “and we are proud that it has chosen South Dakota as the place it wants to grow.”
