Alkota Expansion Results in More Jobs, New Building in Alcester

Pierre - Alkota Cleaning Systems, Inc. of Alcester plans to create 25 jobs and construct a 7,500 square foot office building to accommodate continued growth, Chris Braendlin, commissioner, Governor’s Office of Economic Development, announced today, November 30, 2001.

The new office space will allow the company to renovate its existing facility to increase manufacturing space, Braendlin said. "Alkota recently purchased two California companies and plans to incorporate the manufacturing of those products into its current production so the company needs extra space," he said.

The company, which has been in operation in South Dakota for more than 35 years, manufactures high pressure cleaning systems. "We love to see existing South Dakota companies grow and expand in our state. Companies like Alkota are proof that South Dakota’s business climate is conducive to growth," Braendlin said.

"The new office will enhance our image as a leader in our industry, as well as allow us to renovate our manufacturing facility," said Gary Scott, president. "With the increased manufacturing capacity, we intend to expand our business both by internal growth and strategic acquisitions. We have a great group of employees with the South Dakota work ethic which gives us an advantage in our industry. We will use that advantage as we expand employment in South Dakota," he added.

Construction on the new building is scheduled to be completed by the new year.
