Eleutian Technology Opening Spearfish Teaching Center

SPEARFISH, S.D. - Eleutian Technology will be opening the doors of a teaching center in South Dakota at the end of the month. The Eleutian Spearfish Teaching Center will be located at 741 N. Main St., Suite 4, Spearfish, S.D.

“I want to thank Eleutian for joining South Dakota’s corporate family,” said South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard. “Vibrant companies like Eleutian are helping keep South Dakota on track as a key player in today’s global economy.”

Eleutian Technology was a guest at the annual Governor’s Pheasant Hunt last fall, the Governor said. “They were impressed with the labor data South Dakota had available, and that encouraged them to locate in South Dakota,” Gov. Daugaard said. “This is just one example of the economic dividends South Dakota gains by hosting such events as the Roundup, the Governor’s Pheasant Hunt and the Governor’s Golf Classic.”

Eleutian Technology first opened its doors for business in 2006 and quickly expanded to numerous teaching centers located throughout Wyoming and Utah. Employing over 300 people to teach conversational English skills to Asian students via state-of-the art video teaching technology, Eleutian Technology is the home of the world's largest workforce of U.S. Certified Teachers who teach English as a Foreign Language (EFL) to students around the globe.

“Every month, our teachers deliver thousands of hours of video conference lessons to students in Korea, Japan, and China” said Kent Holiday, President of Eleutian, “With our services in demand, the Spearfish Center opening will serve the need of our customer around the world, as well as provide a number of employment opportunities to the residents of Spearfish, S.D., and the surrounding area. South Dakotans have a great work ethic and we’re excited about our expansion to South Dakota.”

“We are very pleased to welcome Eleutian Technology to the community,” stated David Donat, President of Spearfish Economic Development Corporation. “Eleutian Technology has an outstanding reputation for providing high-quality services to their clients and we are happy that the company has chosen Spearfish as the location for their newest training center.”

The State of South Dakota has awarded Eleutian Technology assistance in the form of Workforce Training Dollars and a Future Fund grant. The company will receive reimbursement for training costs up to $400,000 for as many as 200 employees with health benefits. The Future Fund grant will provide assistance for technology, not to exceed $50,000.
