Timed Event Championship Returns To South Dakota State Fair
HURON, S.D. - The 2nd annual South Dakota Timed Event Championship is not just your average youth rodeo.
The Northern Plain’s toughest young competitors will vie for the coveted title Sept. 1-2 in Huron at the South Dakota State Fair.
Young men and women will compete in gender-neutral rodeo timed events, including tie-down calf roping, steer wrestling, breakaway roping, goat tying, team roping, and barrel racing.
The youth rodeo is managed by Jason Edleman and Steven Birkholtz and sponsored by many national and local vendors.
“Last year’s turnout was unbelievable,” said Edleman. “With the help of our sponsors, we pulled this event together to make it one of the premier events at the State Fair. The standards were set pretty high last year, but we’re looking to exceed them this year.”
Contestants from every corner of the state performed to a standing-room-only crowd during the 2011 South Dakota Timed Event Championship.
“We’ve been cooperating with many great vendors to provide a horse trailer, saddles, and many prestigious prizes to our contestants again this year and an even better show for our State Fair spectators,” said Birkholtz.
The South Dakota Timed Event Championship is sponsored in part by Producers Hybrids, Iverson Chrysler, Featherlite, and Panhandle Slim.
Additional information, including contestant registration, can be found at http://sdtimedeventchampionship.webs.com or by calling Jason Edleman at 605-350-5000.
