SDSP Correctional Officer Treated and Released

Pierre, S.D. –  At around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, at the Jameson Annex of the South Dakota State Penitentiary, a correctional officer was injured by an inmate during a cell entry done to keep the inmate from self harm.  The correctional officer was stabbed in the arm with a pen or pencil.  The correctional officer was treated at a Sioux Falls emergency room and released.

The Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating.
