PIERRE, S.D. – Baldwin Filters celebrated a 110,000-square-foot expansion to its Yankton facility today with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening.
Baldwin Filters has been a member of the CLARCOR organization since 1981. CLARCOR is based in Franklin, Tenn., and is a diversified marketer and manufacturer of mobile, industrial and environmental filtration products and consumer and industrial packaging products sold in domestic and international markets. Common shares of the company are traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol CLC.
Gov. Dennis Daugaard, Baldwin representatives, and local officials attended the grand opening.
“I couldn’t be more pleased that a company with such a strong international presence decided to double its footprint in South Dakota,” the Governor said. “Baldwin Filters has been a valuable member of the Yankton community since 1995, and I look forward to its continued success.”
“We are happy and excited to announce the completion of a 110,000-square-foot expansion to our Yankton, South Dakota, manufacturing facility,” said Sam Ferrise, President of Baldwin Filters. “The added space will provide us the additional manufacturing capacity needed to meet the supply demands we are faced with as a result of continued global growth for our heavy duty filtration products. Baldwin Filters is proud to be part of the Yankton community. We currently employ 180-plus workers from Yankton and the surrounding area and see more growth in the next several years. I would like to thank the state of South Dakota for its support of the project as well as all of our employees and the service providers who have contributed to the project’s success.”
Baldwin Filters obtained a Workforce Development Grant through the Governor’s Office of Economic Development.
“We are appreciative of Baldwin Filters’ decision to expand in Yankton. This was a competitive situation, and the company considered other locations, both domestic and international,” said Mike Dellinger, Executive Director of the Yankton Office of Economic Development. “Baldwin Filters demonstrated a strategic need, and fortunately the Yankton community and the State of South Dakota were willing to step up and meet that need. Gov. Daugaard and his economic development team were the partners that helped us seal the deal.”
