               Harding County Fatal Crash

What: One-vehicle fatal crash

Where: SD Highway 79, mile marker 221, 20 miles north of junction with SD Highway 20

When:          Tuesday, March 12, 2013, 4:26 a.m.

Driver: John T. Whalin, 34, Rapid City, SD, fatal

Vehicle: 2003 Ford F250 pickup

REVA, S.D. – A Rapid City man died in a one-vehicle crash on S.D. Highway 79 about 20 miles north of the junction with S.D. Highway 20 on Tuesday, March 12.

John T. Whalin, 34, was driving northbound in a 2003 Ford F250 pickup. His vehicle went out of control and crossed into the southbound lane, then entered the east ditch and rolled. Whalin, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.

No further information is immediately available.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating. Harding County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
