Work To Begin On Highway 37 North Of Mitchell

MITCHELL, S.D. – A nine-mile shoulder and median repair project on Highway 37 north of Mitchell will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 3, according to the South Dakota Department of Transportation.

Work to mill and repave both the outside shoulders and the median shoulders from the north end of the Highway 37 bypass to seven miles north of Mitchell will be done in two phases.

The first phase starting on Tuesday will take place in two separate areas:

  • between the north end of the Highway 37 bypass to one mile north of the airport road and;
  • from mile marker 82 to mile marker 84 at the north end of the project.

Once those two locations are completed, work on the rest of the project will begin.

Traffic will be controlled using lane closures with traffic restricted to one lane in both the northbound and southbound lanes.

The completion date is Sept. 27 and the prime contractor is Commercial Asphalt of Mitchell.
