What: Two-vehicle fatal crash

When: Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, 7:50 a.m.

Where: U.S. Highway 12, eight miles west of Webster S.D.

Driver 1: Charlene Johnson, 46, Webster, S.D., fatal injuries

Vehicle 1: 2005 Buick Terraza

Driver 2: Jesse Zeitz, 26, Renville, Minn., no injuries

Vehicle 2: 2000 Ford F-250 pickup truck

Passenger 1: Matthew Rosemeier, 25, Murdock, Minn., no injuries

WEBSTER, S.D. – A Webster, S.D., woman died in a two vehicle crash, eight miles west of Webster on Monday, Oct. 7.

Charlene Johnson, 46, of Webster, was driving south on her driveway at 7:50 a.m. in a 2005 Buick Terraza. Traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 12 was a 2000 Ford F-250 pickup truck driven by Jesse Zeitz, 26, of Renville, Minn. Johnson entered the highway and was struck on the driver’s side by the Ford pickup truck. Both vehicles entered the center median of the roadway and then came to a rest. Johnson was wearing a seatbelt, but sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Zeitz and his passenger Matthew Rosemeier, 25 of Murdock, Minn., were wearing seatbelts and were not injured in the crash.

No further information is immediately available.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating. Day County Sheriff’s Office, Webster Fire Dept., Bristol Fire Dept., Day County Emergency Management and Care Flight assisted.
