Historical Society Foundation Hosting Fundraising Social Nov. 7 in Sioux Falls
PIERRE, S.D. – An opportunity to learn about the South Dakota State Historical Society and its nonprofit fundraising partner will take place in Sioux Falls on Nov. 7.
The South Dakota Historical Society Foundation, the society’s partner, will host an evening social at Icon Events, 402 N. Main Ave., Sioux Falls, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7.
“This event is a good way for people to learn about what the South Dakota State Historical Society and Historical Society Foundation are doing to preserve our history for future generations,” said Foundation President Michael Lewis.
Expected to be present at the event are Lewis, State Historical Society Director Jay D. Vogt, and several foundation and society board members. Carey Miller and Herb Jones of Sioux Falls and Laura Archambeau of Centerville serve on the foundation board of directors, and Jeffery Hazard, Robert Kolbe and Jon Lauck of Sioux Falls are members of the society’s board of trustees planning to attend.
The State Historical Society and the Foundation have offices in the Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre.
Two activities in which the State Historical Society and the Foundation are involved with are publishing author Laura Ingalls Wilder’s previously unpublished autobiography and making historic photographs available on the State Historical Society’s website.
“The Sioux Falls event will raise funds for the Foundation, which will in turn help those projects to proceed,” Lewis said.
The event is open to the public. The suggested donation is $25 per person. Sponsors include Koch Hazard Architects, The Risse Sherman Group at Morgan Stanley, and Cutler & Donahoe, LLP.
Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be provided, and there will be a silent auction.
Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP to info@sdhsf.org.
