              Union County Fatal Crash

What: Two-vehicle fatal crash

Where: SD Highway 11 and SD Highway 46, three miles north of Alcester, SD

When: Friday, Nov 15, 2013, 5:24 p.m.

Driver 1: Jennifer Renae Weiland, 29, Beresford, SD, fatal

Vehicle 1: 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

Driver 2: Jessica Ann Ault, 30, Centerville, SD, life-threatening injuries

Vehicle 2: 2001 Ford Windstar

ALCESTER, S.D. – A Beresford, S.D., woman died in a two-vehicle crash at the intersections of S.D. Highway 11 and S.D. Highway 46 on Friday, Nov, 15.

Jennifer Renae Weiland, 29, was westbound on Highway 46 driving a 2006 Chevrolet Uplander, while Jessica Ann Ault, 30, of Centerville, S.D., was northbound on Highway 11 driving a 2001 Ford Windstar. The vehicles collided in the intersection and came to rest in the northwest ditch.

  Weiland was wearing a seatbelt. She was dead at the scene. Ault was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from her vehicle. She was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Highway 11 has a stop sign at that intersection. It is not immediately known if Ault stopped.

No further information is immediately available.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating. The Alcester Police Department, Union County Sheriff’s Office, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Alcester Emergency Medical Service and Alcester Fire Department assisted.
