State, Community Representatives to Promote South Dakota at SHOT Show
Pierre, S.D. – Twelve communities and an energy company will join the South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) in promoting South Dakota at the Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show in Las Vegas, Nev., Jan. 14-17, 2014.
“The SHOT Show is an excellent opportunity for state and local officials to connect with companies and tell them about the benefits of doing business in South Dakota,” said Gov. Dennis Daugaard. “With our relatively low tax burden and reasonable regulatory climate, companies in the firearms industry have a reason to consider South Dakota.”
Representatives from Aberdeen, Black Hills Power of Rapid City, Chamberlain, Glacial Lakes Area Development, Huron, Madison, Mitchell, Mobridge, North Sioux City, Pierre, Rapid City, Sturgis and Watertown will be located at booth 2950.
“The Aberdeen Development Corporation annually has representation at the SHOT Show,” said Jim Barringer, executive vice president of the Aberdeen Development Corporation. “This joint effort with members of the GOED is an excellent source for industrial leads for our community and region. South Dakota is a terrific place for these industries to do business, not only because of our pro-business climate, but because of our state’s long history of being a hunting and fishing mecca.”
"The SHOT Show provides an excellent opportunity for us to support a key industry in Rapid City and the Rushmore region,” said Benjamin Snow, president of the Rapid City Economic Development Partnership. “We also enjoy the teamwork between the GOED and other economic development professionals across the state as we encourage companies in growth mode to consider South Dakota as the perfect environment for their next location."
The SHOT Show attracts businesses from all 50 states and more than 100 countries and is the largest show of its kind. GOED has attended the SHOT Show for the past 13 years.
