Lt. Gov. Michels Re-Elected To NLGA Leadership

PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota Lt. Gov. Matt Michels has once again been elected to serve on the leadership committee of the National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA).

NLGA is the professional association working with officeholders who are first in line of succession to governors in all 50 states and U.S. territories.

“Serving on the NLGA Executive Committee has been a worthwhile experience,” said Lt. Gov. Michels. “It has given me the opportunity to share South Dakota’s point of view and learn about other states’ initiatives. I am honored to have been elected again this year and look forward to continuing my service.”

Lt. Gov. Michels will serve as treasurer on the NLGA Executive Committee. The Lt. Governor was first chosen to join the committee in 2011, and he previously served as the Midwest region Republican representative.

The leadership committee meets about three times a year and charts the course of issues and training to be pursued by the nation’s second-highest state officeholders. The committee also addresses issues of mutual concern to all members.

“Lt. Gov. Michels was nominated to this position by a bi-partisan group of his peers,” said NLGA Executive Director Julia Hurst. “His unanimous election among officials of both parties from every region of the country speaks to the high regard he is held in among his peers.”

NLGA is a bi-partisan organization promoting regional collaborations and problem solving. Visit www.nlga.us for more information.
