Gov. Dennis Daugaard’s Public Commitments; Public Meetings:

 

Saturday, Sept. 20, 11:30 a.m. CDT, Pierre Gov. Dennis Daugaard and North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple will welcome the arrival of Wagon Train at the State Capitol.

 

Tuesday, Sept. 23, Faulkton – Gov. Dennis Daugaard will attend the Capital for a Day event in Faulkton. Citizens are encouraged to attend the community social where they will have the chance to talk one-on-one with Gov. Daugaard. The social will be held at the Community Center (1216 Court Street) from 10 to 10:45 a.m. CDT. Other activities for the day will include a main street walk, tours around town and a roundtable meeting.

 

Friday, Sept. 26, Custer State Park – Gov. Dennis Daugaard will attend the 49th Annual Buffalo Roundup, which will take place near the corrals along Wildlife Loop Road. Parking areas open at 6:15 a.m. MDT and close at 9 a.m. Spectators will need to decide upon the viewing/parking area they plan to watch the roundup from prior to Friday morning. Visitors who want to watch from the North viewing area should travel down the Wildlife Loop Road from the State Game Lodge side. Those wishing to view from the South viewing area should travel down the Wildlife Loop Road from the Blue Bell side. The Buffalo Roundup begins at 9:30 a.m. For safety reasons, spectators are asked to remain in the viewing areas until all the buffalo are corralled, around noon. The public is then invited to take free shuttles into the corral area where testing, branding and sorting of the buffalo will begin at 1 p.m. For more information, contact Custer State Park at 605-255-4515.

 

Tuesday, Sept. 23, 9 a.m. MDT, Deadwood, The Lodge The Petroleum Release Compensation Board will meet. The agenda includes a report on the financial status of the fund, an update on underground storage tank operator training, a review of LUST Trust claims for reimbursement and certificates of financial responsibility and an executive session. Thursday, Sept. 25, to Friday, Sept. 26, Watertown The DENR Board of Water and Natural Resources will meet Thursday in Watertown and on Friday over the Digital Dakota Network at sites in Pierre, Brookings, Rapid City, Sioux Falls and Watertown. The board will tour several project sites in and around Watertown on Thursday. On Friday, the board will consider funding applications and amendments for various drinking water, wastewater, solid waste and recycling projects; consider a series resolution authorizing State Revolving Fund Program bonds; consider amendments to the State Water Plan, 2010 and 2014 Clean Water State Revolving Fund Intended Use Plans, and 2014 Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Intended Use Plan; and hear about a State Fiscal Year 2014 South Dakota Conservancy District report to the Interim Bond Review Committee. Thursday, Sept. 25, 1 p.m. CDT, Pierre – The South Dakota Board on Geographic Names (SDBGN) is holding its board meeting in the Commission Room of the Becker Hansen Building, 700 E. Broadway Ave., Pierre. The purpose of the meeting is to review additional comments on two geographic features in Minnehaha County:  an unnamed creek and an unnamed island in the Big Sioux River. The meeting agenda will be posted on the board’s website http://www.sdbgn.sd.gov and also at the Becker Hansen Building at least 24 hours prior to the meeting. 

 

Friday, Sept. 26, 10 a.m. CDT – A building committee of the South Dakota Board of Regents will meet by teleconference to approve the Facility Design Plan for the Greenhouse portion of the Headhouse/Greenhouse project at South Dakota State University. Friday, Sept. 26, to Sunday, Sept. 28, Custer State Park – The Buffalo Roundup Arts Festival will bring a weekend of music, art, crafts and fun for the entire family to Custer State Park. The festival kicks off after the roundup Friday afternoon. Saturday and Sunday both begin with a pancake feed at 8 a.m. followed by entertainment of dancers, cowboy poets and western and Native American performers starts at 8:30 a.m. MDT. Visitors can explore the arts and crafts booths near the State Game Lodge until 6 p.m. on Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
