MONOPOLY Millionaires’ ClubLotto Ticket Sales Start Oct. 19

Pierre, S.D. – Ticket sales begin Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014 at all South Dakota Lottery retailers for MONOPOLY Millionaires’ Club(MMC), a multi-state lotto draw game that offers multiple million dollar prizes and a top prize of up to $25 million.

The first drawing for the $5 game, which gives players three ways to win, is Oct. 24, 2014. Drawings will be held Friday nights at 10:15 p.m. CT. Tickets can be purchased until 9:00 p.m. CT/8:00 p.m. MT the night of the drawing.

Each lotto ticket will have five numbers and a randomly drawn Monopoly property, a Millionaires’ Club Number, and a web code.  Players can win by matching the draw numbers to win cash prizes, including the top prize; if the top prize is won, triggering a second drawing, and having their Millionaires’ Club Number randomly drawn for a $1 million prize; and by entering their web code on the MMC website for a chance to win a trip to Las Vegas to participate in a national television game show and win up to $1 million.

Lottery executive director Norm Lingle says the new game is designed to create more millionaires overall among a wider group of players.

“Lottery players have long asked why instead of a few people winning hundreds of millions, there couldn’t be a larger group of people each winning million dollar prizes. MONOPOLY Millionaires’ Club does just that by giving our players three ways to win at least $1 million on a single ticket. It has the potential to make more millionaires than any other lotto game. That’s exciting not only for our players but for the Lottery, too,” Lingle said.

The overall odds of winning a prize in the game are 1:10 while the odds of winning the top prize are about 1 in 73 million.

To enter their web code for a chance to win a trip to Las Vegas for the national television game show, players must be a member of the South Dakota Lottery’s Players Club. Membership is free; players can sign-up at http://lottery.sd.gov/players/login/.
