Missing State Prison Inmates In Custody

Sioux Falls, S.D.- Two state prison inmates that left a minimum-security unit in Sioux Falls last weekend are back in custody.

Inmates Thomas Strutz and Joseph Leroi were apprehended without incident near Waubay, S.D., this afternoon. Law enforcement officers from the South Dakota Highway Patrol, Day County Sheriff’s Department, Game, Fish and Parks Department and Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate were involved in the apprehension. 

Strutz and Leroi are currently being housed in the Day County Jail.

They walked away from Unit C, the minimum-security unit of the Jameson Annex to the South Dakota State Penitentiary, on Nov. 9.
