LENNOX, S.D. -- A Lennox, S.D., man, identified as Roger Almond, 62, died in a one-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon near Lennox.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says Almond was driving a 2005 Nissan Frontier south on South Dakota Highway 17. The vehicle traveled across the roadway, started to enter the east ditch and hit a delineator pole. The Highway Patrol says the driver then over corrected. The vehicle traveled back across the roadway and into the west ditch where it rolled.

Almond was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, Peggy Almond, 67, Lennox, sustained serious non-life threatening injuries. She was transported to a Sioux Falls hospital.

The investigation continues. The Highway Patrol says both occupants were wearing seat belts and alcohol was not a factor.

Other agencies responding were the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and Lennox police and fire departments.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is part of the Department of Public Safety.
