Third Fatality in Moody County Crash (Updated)
What: Two vehicle crash
Where: 485th Avenue and 237th Street, southeast of Flandreau
Time: 7:04 a.m., Monday, July 13

Vehicle: 2007 Chevy Silverado pickup
Driver 2: Joshua Krempges, 38, Flandreau, S.D., Fatal Injuries

FLANDREAU, S.D. – A third person has died from injuries sustained Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash that occurred southeast of Flandreau.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol says Mariana Krempges, 7, Dell Rapids, died Tuesday in a Sioux Falls hospital. The other two victims, Joshua Krempges, 38, Flandreau, and Madyson Barbee, 11, Dell Rapids, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Monday’s crash, reported at 7:04 a.m., occurred at the intersection of 485th Avenue and 237th Street.
The Highway Patrol says a 2007 Chevy Silverado pickup, driven by Gary Eikmeier, Pipestone, MN., was traveling west on 237th Street. A 1989 Toyota Camry, driven by Joshua Krempges, was southbound on 485th Avenue. The Highway Patrol says Krempges failed to stop at the stop sign and entered the intersection, colliding with the pickup.
Also injured in the Toyota Camry were Mallory Krempges and Madelyn Krempges, who both suffered life threatening injuries. They were transported to a Sioux Falls hospital. The two also are from Dell Rapids.
Eikmeier sustained minor injuries. He was treated and released from a Pipestone, MN hospital.
No charges are pending. The investigation continues.
Other assisting agencies were Moody County Sheriff’s Office, Moody County Ambulance, Trent Fire Department and Pipestone, MN, ambulance.
The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
