STAR Academy Youth Back In Custody

Custer, SD- Three male youths who ran away from the State Treatment and Rehabilitation (STAR) Academy overnight are back in custody.

The three were apprehended in a home near the STAR Academy campus south of Custer this morning. Personnel from the Custer County Sheriff’s Department, Highway Patrol, state Game, Fish and Parks Department, U.S. Forest Service and STAR Academy were involved in the search and apprehension.

The youths ran away from the Youth Challenge Center program for boys at STAR Academy at approximately 11p.m. MDT Aug. 23.

Law enforcement is investigating the incident to determine any additional charges.
