Custer County Fatal Crash

 

What:  Single motorcycle crash
Where: U.S. Highway 16A, mile marker 40, Custer State Park, six miles west of Hermosa
When: 12:32 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015


Driver:  William Gregg, 73, Colstrip, MT, Fatal

Vehicle: 2002 Honda GL1800

 

CUSTER, S.D. – William Gregg, 73, of Colstrip, MT, has died from injuries sustained in a single motorcycle crash in Custer State Park.

 

The crash occurred at 12:32 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6. Gregg was westbound on U.S. Highway 16A when he failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle left its lane and collided with a guardrail.

 

Gregg, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle.  He died Tuesday at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

  

The South Dakota Highway Patrol investigated the crash. Other agencies at the scene were the Custer County Sheriff’s Office and the Custer State Park rangers.

 

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
