PIERRE, S.D. The South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs is pleased to announce that Pioneer Bank and Trust has provided a gift of $30,000 for the Michael J. Fitzmaurice Veterans Home Endowment Fund.

Pioneer Bank & Trust, a premier local agriculture and business bank in western South Dakota, was founded in 1913 by brothers F.M. and H.W. Clarkson in Buffalo, S.D., as a way to help their hard-working neighbors. From those humble beginnings, Pioneer Bank and Trust expanded to six locations and has become one of the safest banks in America.

Pioneer Bank and Trust offers a varied and complete assortment of state-of-the-art banking products and services. Pioneer also offers a full-service trust department, offering complete trust and estate planning, as well as a full-service investment department.

The goal of the Michael J. Fitzmaurice State Veterans Home Endowment Fund Campaign is to build a $3 million permanent endowment. Investment income will be used for activities, programs and equipment to enhance the quality of life for the residents.

“We are happy to have this opportunity to give back to those that laid their lives on the line to defend our freedom and way of life,” said Jim Morcom, senior vice-president and manager of Pioneer Bank and Trust in Rapid City. ”Hopefully our contribution will help pave the way toward meeting our veteran’s needs and improving their quality of life.”

“We are humbled by the support we have received from Pioneer Bank and Trust,” said Larry Zimmerman, Secretary of the South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs. “Their generosity helps sustain our ability to enhance the lives of our veterans at the Michael J. Fitzmaurice Veterans Home.”
