Name Released in Sanborn County Fatal Crash What: One-vehicle fatal crash

 

Where: South Dakota Highway 34, mile marker 341, five miles west of Artesian, S.D.

When: 7:45 p.m., Friday, Nov. 27, 2015

 

Driver: Michael McCreight, 62, Mitchell, S.D., Fatal Injuries

Vehicle: 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

 

ARTESIAN, S.D. – Michael McCreight of Mitchell, S.D., 62, has been identified as the victim in a one-vehicle crash that occurred Friday night, five miles west of Artesian.

McCreight was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer eastbound on South Dakota Highway 34 and was preparing to turn to go south on South Dakota Highway 37. He lost control of the vehicle, which rolled and hit an electrical pole.

McCreight was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt.

Investigation into the crash continues by the South Dakota Highway Patrol.

Other agencies at the scene were the state Game, Fish and Parks Department, Sanborn County Sheriff’s Office, Artesian Fire and Rescue, Woonsocket Fire and Rescue, Sanborn County Ambulance and Xcel Energy. The Highway Patrol is part of the state Department of Public Safety.
