SPEARFISH, S.D. – Crews will begin paving on an asphalt concrete resurfacing project on Highway 14A from Spearfish to Savoy in Lawrence County beginning on Tuesday, July 12.

The asphalt surfacing is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete, depending on weather. In addition to the asphalt resurfacing, crews will continue work on guardrail updates and installation of new pavement markings.

During paving operations, traffic will be reduced to one lane with a 16-foot width restriction and directed through the work zones with the use of flaggers and a pilot car.

Motorists can expect up to 10 minute delays, suddenly slowing and stopped traffic, uneven or rough surface, and construction equipment and workers adjacent to the roadway.

The prime contractor on this $2.5 million project is Simon Contractors of SD, Inc. doing business as Hills Materials Company of Rapid City.

The overall completion date for the project is Oct. 1, 2016.
