Names Released in Campbell County Fatal Crash

 

What: Two-vehicle crash

Where:  U.S. Highway 83, mile marker 219, seven miles south of Mound City, S.D.

When: 8:14 a.m., Monday, July 18, 2016

 

Driver No. 1: Danielle McCollam, 25, Mobridge, S.D., Fatal Injuries

Vehicle: 2015 Ford Fusion

 

Driver No. 2: James Weatherman, 34, Urich, MO, Serious Non-Life Threatening Injuries

Vehicle: 2008 Ford F-250 Pickup

 

MOUND CITY, S.D. – Danielle McCollam, 25, of Mobridge has been identified as the person who died in a two-vehicle crash that occurred Monday morning south of Mound City.

 

McCollam was driving a 2015 Ford Fusion northbound on U.S. Highway 83. The second vehicle, a 2008 Ford F-250 pickup driven by James Weatherman, 34, Urich, MO, was southbound on Highway 83. The two vehicles collided head-on in the northbound lane.

 

The female driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to the Mobridge hospital. The two drivers were the only people involved in the crash.

 

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Other agencies on scene were the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office, the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, Mobridge Police Department, Selby Fire and Rescue, Mound City Fire and Rescue, Herried Fire and Rescue and Mobridge Ambulance.
