I-90  Exit 14 -  One-Lane Two-Way Traffic on Colorado Boulevard East of 27th Street

SPEARFISH, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation says traffic is scheduled to be switched to one-lane two-way traffic on the north side of Colorado Boulevard between Heritage Drive and 27th Street on the morning of Tuesday, June 20, 2017.

This was postponed due to wet weather earlier this week.

This is being done so the contactor can complete the raised medians on Colorado Boulevard. The raised medians will control access on Colorado Boulevard by eliminating left turns at the west entrance into White’s Canyon Motors and the shared entrance at Pizza Ranch and Phillips 66.

Motorists will need to proceed past these approaches and make a U-turn or use an alternate approach to access the affected businesses. When exiting motorists that intend to turn left will now be required to turn right and make a U-turn at the next available location or use an alternate approach.

Motorists are asked to slow down through the work zone, be on the lookout for flaggers, be prepared for suddenly slowing, merging and stopped traffic, and construction workers and equipment entering, exiting and adjacent to the roadway.

Heavy Constructors, Inc., of Rapid City is the prime contractor on this $28 million project. The overall completion date for the project is June 1, 2018.
