Car and Tractor Show planned for SD State Fair

HURON, S.D. –The South Dakota State Fair invites participants to take place in the classic car show and antique tractor show sponsored by Stan’s Inc. on Saturday, Sept. 2, and Sunday, Sept. 3, during the State Fair. Both shows are free to enter and will include trophies to be awarded to first, second and third place winners in a people’s choice judging competition.

The classic car show on Saturday, Sept. 2, is a chance to look at classic cars from around the area. The event will start with the classic car parade at 10 a.m.  Following the parade, Sherwin Linton will host the show from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the AARP Centennial Stage.

The classic car show will also feature the SDSU Bummobile. SDSU’s iconic Bummobile is a 1912 Ford Model T which has led the Hobo Day Parade at SDSU’s homecoming celebration every year, with the exception of 1942, during which Hobo Day was cancelled due to World War II.

The Antique Tractor Show sponsored by Stan’s Inc. on Sunday, Sept. 3, is a display of antique tractors from around the area. The show is open to all antique tractors. The antique tractor parade will start at 10 a.m.  Following the parade, Sherwin Linton will host the antique tractor show from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the AARP Centennial Stage.

“Both shows require preregistration. Entry forms can be found on the State Fair website, www.sdstatefair.com, and by going to the special events tab and finding the appropriate event,” said Peggy Besch, SD State Fair manager. “We thank Sherwin Linton for hosting these shows during the fair. They are certainly enjoyed by fairgoers.”
