Brookings County Fatal Crash
What: Two Vehicle Crash
Where: U.S. Highway 14/U.S. Highway 81 Intersection
Three miles south of Arlington, S.D.
When: 9:03 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017
Driver No. 1: Male, 39, Fatal Injuries
Vehicle: 2005 Pontiac G6
Driver No. 2: Male, 66, Minor Injuries
Passenger: Male, 53, Minor Injuries
Vehicle: 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup
ARLINGTON, S.D. – One person died Tuesday night in a two-vehicle crash south of Arlington.
Two others were injured. Names of the three males involved are not being released pending notification of family members.
A 2005 Pontiac G6 was northbound on U.S. Highway 81 approaching the intersection of U.S. Highway 14. The vehicle did not stop at the intersection’s stop sign and collided with a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup which was eastbound on U.S. Highway 14.
The driver of the Pontiac G6 was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
Both the driver and passenger of the pickup sustained minor injuries. Both were wearing seatbelts.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Other agencies on scene were the Kingsbury County Sheriff’s Office, Brookings County Sheriff’s Office, Arlington Fire Department, Arlington Ambulance and Brookings Ambulance.
The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
