Saturday, Oct. 14, 11 a.m. EDT, Groton, Connecticut – Gov. Dennis Daugaard, First Lady Linda Daugaard and Lt. Gov. Matt Michels will attend the christening of the USS South Dakota in Groton, Connecticut.

 

Monday, Oct. 16, to Tuesday, Oct. 17, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – Gov. Dennis Daugaard will participate in the Western Governors’ Workforce Workshop in Oklahoma City.

 

Tuesday, Oct. 17, Mitchell – Lt. Gov. Matt Michels will be the keynote speaker at the National Philanthropy Day Luncheon.

 

Wednesday, Oct. 18, 8 a.m. CDT, Sioux Falls – Lt. Gov. Matt Michels will give opening remarks at the “Opioid Epidemic: A Wicked Problem of the Worst Kind” seminar at the Sioux Falls Convention Center on Wednesday.  

 

Thursday, Oct. 19, 9 a.m. CDT, Fort Pierre – First Lady Linda Daugaard will visit elementary classrooms at the Stanley County Elementary School to read to students as part of her literacy initiative and to support the national “Read for the Record” campaign. She will read the Read for the Record 2017 book selection “Quackers” by Liz Wong.

 

Friday, Oct. 20, 10:30 a.m. CDT, Pierre – First Lady Linda Daugaard will visit elementary classrooms at the Saint Joseph Elementary School to read to students as part of her literacy initiative and to support “Rooster Rush” week for the Pierre community. She will read “The Mystery of the Pheasants” written by Mark Meierhenry and David Volk and illustrated by Susan Turnbull.

 

Friday, Oct. 20, 12:30 p.m. CDT, Highmore – First Lady Linda Daugaard will visit elementary classrooms at the Highmore Elementary School to read to students as part of her literacy initiative. Mrs. Daugaard was invited by kindergarten teacher Chantrel LaMont to participate in her “Famous South Dakota Fridays” program.
