Monday, June 25, to Wednesday, June 27, Rapid City, SD. – Gov. Dennis Daugaard will host the Western Governors’ Annual Meeting in Rapid City. Members of the media are invited to attend a press conference with the governors on Monday, June 25, at 12:30 p.m. MDT at the Holiday Inn Rushmore Plaza, as well as the workforce development initiative panel and other portions of the meeting. Tuesday, June 26, to Thursday, June 27, Brookings – The South Dakota Board of Regents will meet on the campus of South Dakota State University for its regular business meeting. All meetings are held at the SDSU Alumni Center, 815 Medary Ave. (corner of 8th Street and Medary Avenue). The regents will convene in open session at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, to conduct informal budget hearings. The regents’ business meeting convenes at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Wednesday, June 27, 8:30 a.m. CDT, Huron – DENR staff will be among speakers during an environmental training session for operators of concentrated animal feeding operations at the Crossroads Convention Center, 100 Fourth St. Southwest., Huron. The session fulfills the training requirement for producers to obtain a state water pollution control permit for concentrated animal feeding operations. Training includes information on proper manure management and how to comply with the state permit. Producers not needing a permit may also be interested in attending to learn about manure management practices that protect water quality.
