Name Released in Custer County Fatal Crash

What:    One-vehicle crash

Where:  Box Canyon Road

               Six miles west of Hermosa, S.D.

When:   6:23 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018

Driver: Joan Lix, 78, Hermosa, S.D., Fatal Injuries

Vehicle: 2002 Yukon GMC

HERMOSA, S.D. – A 78-year-old Hermosa woman has been identified as the person who died Wednesday night in a one-vehicle crash west of Hermosa.

A 2002 GMC Yukon was eastbound on Box Canyon Road when it went off the road and over an embankment.

Joan Lix, who was the driver, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was the only occupant.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.

The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
