State Prison Inmate Jacob Abdo Placed on Escape Status

YANKTON, S.D.- State prison inmate Jacob Abdo has been placed on escape status after violating conditions of the work release program.

Abdo failed to return to the Yankton Community Work Center June 28 following a search for work release employment.

Abdo, age 25, is a Native American male. He is 6-feet-2 inches tall and weighs approximately 175 pounds.

Abdo is serving a 5-year sentence with 3 years suspended for receiving/transferring a stolen vehicle out of Union County.

South Dakota Codified Law 22-11A-2.1 states that failure to return following assignment constitutes second-degree escape, a Class 5 felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison.
