Names Released in Roberts County Fatal Crash

What:    Two-vehicle crash

Where:  S.D. Highway 127, mile marker 233, one mile southeast of New Effington, S.D.

When:   9:17 p.m., Wed., June 14, 2023

Driver No. 1: Luciel Kohl, 19, Canton, S.D., fatal injuries

Vehicle No. 1: Harley Davidson golf cart

Driver No. 2: James Frederick Konsor, 71, Sisseton, S.D., no injuries

Passenger: Kathleen Marie Konsor, 69, Sisseton, S.D., no injuries

Vehicle No. 2: 2010 Ford F150 pickup

New Effington, S.D.: One person died last Wednesday evening in a two-vehicle crash southeast of New Effington, S.D.

Preliminary crash information indicates that a Harley Davidson golf cart was driving westbound near mile marker 233 on S.D. Highway 127. A 2010 Ford F150 pickup was driving eastbound near mile marker 233 on S.D. Highway 127. The golf cart crossed the center line and collided with the F150 pickup.

Luciel Kohl of Canton, S.D., the 19-year-old driver of the golf cart, died at the scene of the crash. She was not wearing a seatbelt.  

The 70-year-old driver of the F150 pickup, James Frederick Konsor of Sisseton, and his 69-year-old passenger, Kathleen Marie Konsor of Sisseton, were not injured. They were both wearing seatbelts.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.

The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
