Capitol Lake Masterplan Public Meeting July 20, 2023

Pierre, SD – The Bureau of Human Resources and Administration (BHRA) would like to invite you to a public meeting on Thursday, July 20, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Capitol Lake Visitor’s Center. Stockwell Engineering will present potential designs for the fountains, memorials, walkways, and structures surrounding Capitol Lake.

During the 2022 Legislative Session, House Bill 1013 was passed appropriating funds to develop a master plan for Capitol Lake. This winter, the project kicked off by dredging 30 years’ worth of sediment from Capitol Lake amounting to 2,210 truckloads totaling 33,000 cubic yards of material.

“Our primary objective is to improve the integrity of the water source that supplies water to the lake, but this gives us an opportunity to enhance the visitor experience as well,” said BHRA Commissioner Darin Seeley. “Who better to help us make these decisions than the people of South Dakota?”

If you cannot attend in person, the meeting will be live-streamed via Zoom - Meeting ID: 921 3891 0874; Passcode: Lake; Direct Link: https://state-sd.zoom.us/j/92138910874?pwd=N1gvMU5sTWZZc1krUEIwcTNpbm1pQT09. Response/input will be collected for 2 weeks following the public meeting. Submit your comments to Stockwell at info@stockwellengineers.com.
