BOARD APPROVES FUNDING FOR PROJECTS DRIVING JOB CREATION AND INDUSTRY EXPANSION

PIERRE, S.D. The South Dakota Board of Economic Development has approved funding for two projects expected to generate a combined investment of nearly $10 million and create about 29 new jobs across the state.

“These projects are great examples of what happens when businesses and communities work together,” said Governor Larry Rhoden. “From Vermillion to Canton, South Dakota is Open for Opportunity, and we’re helping that Opportunity grow in every corner of the state.”

Cypress Rail Solutions, LLC, in Vermillion was approved for an SD Works Loan of $769,724 to purchase and renovate a facility for railcar repair, with plans to service 15 to 25 cars each week.

Dakota Specialty Solutions, LLC in Canton was approved for an SD Works Loan of $900,000 to construct and equip a new 27,000 sq ft facility to manufacture and package agricultural products and provide warehouse space for storage.

“These projects highlight the diversity and strength of South Dakota’s economy,” said GOED Commissioner Bill Even. “They support two critical industries, transportation and agriculture, while creating good jobs and driving steady growth in local communities.”
