Hughes County, S.D.- A Pierre man died in a single vehicle crash Friday evening two miles east of Blunt, SD.

The name of the person involved has not been released pending notification of family members.

Preliminary crash information indicates the driver of a 2026 GMC Sierra was traveling eastbound on US Highway 14 near mile marker 252 when it left the roadway and entered the south ditch. The vehicle continued up a railroad track embankment and over the tracks, then down the other side into a ditch where it rolled, coming to rest on the passenger side. The driver died at the scene. 

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.

The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
