Governors Stake Friendly Wager On Dakota Marker Game

PIERRE, S.D. – Gov. Dennis Daugaard and North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple have staked a friendly wager on the outcome of this weekend’s Dakota Marker football game between South Dakota State University and North Dakota State University.

Dalrymple and Daugaard wagered a $100 charitable donation based on the game’s outcome. Dalrymple agreed to donate $100 to Daugaard’s charity of choice, South Dakota Children’s Home Society, if the South Dakota State Jackrabbits win Saturday’s football game. Daugaard said he will donate $100 to Dalrymple’s chosen charity, Imagination Library, should the Bison of North Dakota State win the cross-border rivalry.

Gov. Daugaard is confident of a South Dakota State victory on Saturday.

"I'm looking forward to a great game," said Governor Daugaard. "This is the year the Jacks are going to bring the Dakota Marker back to South Dakota."

Gov. Dalrymple has equal confidence in NDSU.

“I have collected on several friendly wagers with Gov. Daugaard and other governors thanks to the Bison’s winning ways, and I’m confident that Gov. Daugaard will be supporting my charity of choice, Imagination Library, an early childhood reading program,” Dalrymple said. “The Dakota Marker game is a great rivalry and both teams represent their state very well in the Missouri Valley Football Conference.”

The Bison and Jackrabbits will kick off the Missouri Valley Football Conference schedule and their 12th annual meeting for the Dakota Marker on Saturday at 6 p.m. in Brookings, S.D.
