Public Invited to Tour New Offices of SDSU Extension & SD Dept. of Agriculture


PIERRE, S.D. - All are welcome to attend an open house and tour the new offices of South Dakota State University Extension Rapid City Regional Center and South Dakota Department of Agriculture (SDDA) Western Ag Development Office. The two agencies are sharing office space in the lower level of the First Interstate Bank Building (711 N. Creek Drive) in Rapid City.


The open house runs Oct. 26-30, 2015 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (MST). Snacks, coffee and tours will be available throughout the week.


"We are eager for the public to stop by and see our new location," said Peggy Schlechter, SDSU Extension Community Development field specialist.


Increased regional collaboration is an expected outcome, now that staff from two entities which serve South Dakotans will be housed in one building.


"I see significant opportunity to share knowledge and better utilize each other as resources," said Bob Weyrich, the Western Ag Development representative for South Dakota Department of Agriculture. "This regional collaboration offers greater response to each area lending everyone's efforts to more effective results."


Paul Kostboth, SDDA Ag Development Division director added, "SDDA is excited to continue our partnership with SDSU Extension in our new office space, which reinforces our commitment to serve as a consistent resource for the agricultural industry and local leaders throughout western South Dakota."
