John Kay & Steppenwolf and Foghat Complete SD State Fair Grandstand Line-Up


HURON, S.D. –The South Dakota State Fair, along with C&B Operations, LLC, are proud to welcome John Kay & Steppenwolf and Foghat to the State Fair Grandstand on Sunday, Sept. 4, completing the fair’s grandstand line-up.


Listeners of all ages are bound to recognize John Kay & Steppenwolf’s music. Their most popular hits “Born to Be Wild,” “Magic Carpet Ride” and “Rock Me” stand amongst rock’s most unforgettable anthems.  The band has sold over 25 million records worldwide.


Formed in 1971, Foghat has rocked the world with hits like “Slow Ride,” “Fool For the City” and “I Just Want to Make Love to You.” Foghat boasts eight Gold records, one Platinum record and one Double Platinum record.


“We are excited to put the finishing touches on our grandstand line-up with John Kay & Steppenwolf and Foghat,” said SD State Fairgrounds manager Peggy Besch. “They’re going to put on a great classic rock show. The complete SD State Fair grandstand line-up includes the Red Wilk Construction CBR Bull Bash Wednesday and Thursday nights, Dwight Yoakam with Blackhawk Friday night, Legends Seeds welcomes Kip Moore with Reckless Kelly Saturday night, C&B Operations, LLC welcomes John Kay & Steppenwolf with Foghat Sunday night. Monster trucks and a soccer demolition derby on Monday complete the 2016 lineup.


Pre-sale on tickets will begin June 22 for backrest holders followed by Friends of the Fair ticket sales on June 27. General public ticket sales will begin June 29.  Ticket prices can be found online at www.sdstatefair.com.


The 2016 South Dakota State Fair will run from Thursday, Sept. 1, through Monday, Sept. 5. Channel Seeds Preview night will be Wednesday, Aug. 31.
