Hall Of Honor Has Been Relocated

PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Hall of Honor, which has been redesigned and relocated to the first floor of the Capitol building, was dedicated during a ceremony today in the west hall of the annex in the Capitol.

The Hall of Honor is a display which recognizes South Dakota veterans who have been awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for their conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty.

“We felt the display should be accessible to all veterans and more visible to the citizens of South Dakota. Second floor of the Soldiers and Sailors Building, where the display was previously located, is not accessible to people with limited mobility,” said Bureau of Administration Commissioner Scott Bollinger.

The Hall of Honor had been on display in the Soldiers and Sailors building since 1994 when it was repurposed from a museum into the office space which houses The Department of Military and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The public is invited to visit the Capitol to view the display.
