Older Americans Month
PIERRE, S.D. - Gov. Kristi Noem has proclaimed May Older Americans Month (OAM) in South Dakota.
OAM aims to celebrate the many ways in which older adults make a difference in our communities.
The 2019 theme, Connect, Create, Contribute, encourages older adults and their communities to:
- Connect with friends, family, and services that support participation.
- Create by engaging in activities that promote learning, health, and personal enrichment.
- Contribute time, talent, and life experience to benefit others.
This statewide observation coincides with National Older Americans Month, a national awareness campaign that takes place each May.
