Wheel Jam Packed with Events

HURON, S.D. – The sixteenth annual Wheel Jam will be held May 31 – June 2 at the South Dakota State Fairgrounds in Huron.

Wheel Jam hosts the Wheel Jam Truck Show, car show, motorcycle show, Make it Mine Show ‘n Shine and Pick Up Party, Knockout Events Wheel Jam Slam Fight Night, and the Original SD BBQ Championships.

“Wheel Jam is three big days, three big shows, and thousands of wheels,” said State Fair manager Peggy Besch. “Come check out the car, truck and motorcycle shows, as well as numerous other events. Wheel Jam offers free event admission. It’s a weekend you don’t want to miss.”

Throughout the three days, other activities include the Wheel Jam Truck Show light show, poker run, biker games, parade, bean bag tournament and audio sound competition. The Thomas Carnival and a Boy Scout Climbing Bridge will be set up for kids of all ages to enjoy. There are also vendors on hand at the event.

Two new youth events were added to Sunday’s roster of events, the kids’ pedal pull and a trike and bike parade. These events are specifically tailored for kids of all ages and their enjoyment. The kids’ pedal pull has a boy and girls division, with age groups from 4 – 12. The trike and bike parade will be giving away a brand-new bike to the winner of both age groups, which range from ages 2 – 4 and 5-7. Kids are encouraged to bring their decorated bike to partake in the parade!

Wheel Jam also features live musical entertainment. On Friday, the Weston Frank Band will be playing on the 18 Wheel Stage at the Wheel Jam Truck Show. Also taking place on Friday is the Big Jim Jam Fest featuring Eclipse with Flashback on the Freedom Stage. Weston Frank will be back on Saturday to perform at the SD BBQ Championships Backyard BBQ. Sushi Roll, an energetic cover band from Chicago, will perform Saturday night on the Freedom Stage.
