Emerald Ash Borer Town Hall at Governor’s Ag Summit

SIOUX FALLS, SD – The South Dakota Department of Agriculture is inviting all South Dakotans to attend an emerald ash borer (EAB) town hall at the 2019 Governor’s Agricultural Summit on Thursday, July 11, to learn about the insect, the quarantine, and effective treatments.

“Unfortunately, the emerald ash borer was confirmed in Sioux Falls in May of 2018, but we are doing everything we can to slow the spread of the EAB across our state,” said South Dakota Secretary of Agriculture, Kim Vanneman. “We encourage all South Dakotans to attend this town hall to learn more about what they can do to be proactive against this destructive beetle.”

The town hall will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. CDT at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls. The town hall will include presentations on EAB biology, identification, quarantines, actions taken by the City of Sioux Falls and other EAB related topics.
