Craig Bennett Named CTVSO of the Year

PIERRE, S.D. Craig Bennett of Mitchell has been named the 2019 South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs “County/Tribal Veterans Service Officer of the Year.” Bennett was recognized by his peers at SDDVA’s annual benefit conference Monday, Aug. 26, in Pierre.  


Craig Bennett, veterans service officer for Davison County, was awarded the 2019 County and Tribal Veterans Service Officer of the Year award for his knowledge of federal and state regulations governing veteran’s benefits, as well as quality of the claims his office files.  


Key Achievements of the CTVSO of the Year:

  • Customer service.
  • Submission of complete and accurate claims.
  • Outstanding office management.
  • Utilizing new and innovative procedures and technologies.


“Craig has an unwavering loyalty to his veterans and repeatedly demonstrates that he will go above and beyond what is required, or even expected, to see that they receive every benefit possible.” said Greg Whitlock, Secretary of the South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs. “He makes it a point of pride to pursue each claim or request as if he were doing it for his own benefit.”  


Bennett’s office serves over 1,300 veterans in Davison County, as well as numerous veterans from counties bordering Davison County.


The South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs and its partners assist South Dakota veterans in receiving over $660 million in annual benefits.
