Name Released in Clark County Fatal Crash


What:    Two-Vehicle Fatal Crash

Where:  U.S. Highway 212, mile marker 348

              Two miles east of Clark, S.D.

When:   7:24 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019


Driver No. 1: Male, 47, Minor Injuries

Vehicle: 2019 Ford F350 Pickup


Driver No. 2: Brittany Monson, 29, Clark, S.D., Fatal Injuries

Vehicle: 2017 Ford Explorer


CLARK, S.D – A Clark, S.D., woman now has officially been identified by the South Dakota Highway Patrol as the person who died Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash east of Clark.


Brittany Monson, 29, was driving a 2017 Ford Explorer westbound on U.S. Highway 212 when it crossed the centerline and collided head on with an eastbound 2019 Ford F350 pickup. She was pronounced dead at the scene.


A  47-year-old male, who was driving the pickup, sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Watertown hospital. His name is not being released since he has invoked his rights under the state’s Marsy’s Law.  


Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. They were the only people involved.


The Highway Patrol is leading the crash investigation. All information released so far is only preliminary.


The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
