DHS Urging Consumers to Seek Assistance
PIERRE, S.D. – As the state battles the COVID-19 pandemic, the South Dakota Department of Human Services (DHS) is urging their consumers to seek assistance when needed.
DHS wants to be a resource to share valuable information to help individuals with disabilities stay healthy during the pandemic.
“We know that people are experiencing uncertainty and we want the public to know that DHS will continue to work to provide essential services and supports,” said DHS Secretary Shawnie Rechtenbaugh.
Self-advocates, direct support professionals, and the general public can call 605-773-5990 for assistance.
Rechtenbaugh added, “These are challenging times especially for our state’s elderly population.”
South Dakotans who are caring for older individuals may utilize the department’s Dakota at Home service by calling 1-833-663-9673 or speaking with their local Ombudsman.
