Name Released In Pennington County Fatal Crash
What: One-Vehicle Fatal Crash
Where: South Dakota Highway 40, mile marker 33
One mile east of Keystone, S.D.
When: 2:33 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020
Driver: Scott Handy, 63, Keystone, S.D., Fatal Injuries
Vehicle: 2017 Kia Sportage Ex
KEYSTONE, S.D. – A Keystone, S.D. man has been identified as the person who died early Sunday morning, Dec. 27, in a one-vehicle crash east of Keystone.
A 2017 Kia Sportage Ex was eastbound on South Dakota Highway 40 when the vehicle left the roadway, entered the north ditch and rolled. The driver, 63-year-old Scott Handy, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the vehicle’s only occupant. He was not wearing a seat belt.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
