McCook County Fatal Crash
What: One-Vehicle Fatal Crash
Where: Intersection of 431st Avenue and 247th Street
Ten miles northwest of Salem, S.D.
When: Unknown
Driver: Male, 61, Fatal Injuries
Vehicle: 2003 Toyota Tacoma Pickup
SALEM, S.D. – A 61-year-old man has died in a one-vehicle crash northwest of Salem.
The name of the person involved has not yet been released pending notification of family members.
A preliminary crash investigation indicates that a 2003 Toyota Tacoma pickup was northbound on 431st Avenue, went through the intersection of 247th Street and eventually rolled into the east ditch. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials believe the crash happened either late on Thursday, March 4, or early on Friday, March 5.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
