Lincoln County Fatal Crash
What: Pedestrian-Vehicle Fatal Crash
Where: South Dakota Highway 115, mile marker 75
One mile west of Harrisburg, S.D.
When: 10:40 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021
Driver: Female, 39, No Injuries
Vehicle: 2009 Chevy Equinox
Pedestrian: Male, 24, Fatal Injuries
HARRISBURG, S.D. – One person died late Saturday night in a pedestrian-vehicle fatal crash near Harrisburg.
Names of the two people involved are not being released pending notification of family members.
Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2009 Chevy Equinox was northbound on South Dakota Highway 115 when it struck a 24-year-old male who was walking southbound in the northbound lane of travel. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The 39-year-old female driver was not injured. No charges are pending.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
