Names Released In Pennington County Fatal Crash

 

 

 

What:    Vehicle-Pedestrian Crash

Where:  Interstate 90, mile marker 63

              Box Elder, S.D.

When:   2:34 a.m., Monday, Oct. 31, 2022

 

Driver: Thomas Durbin, Jr., 58, Box Elder, S.D., No Injuries

Vehicle: 2018 Mack CXU600 Commercial Truck

 

Pedestrian: Ina King, 20. Rapid City, S.D.

 

RAPID CITY, S.D. – A 20-year-old Rapid City, S.D. woman has died from injuries sustained in an Oct. 31, 2022 pedestrian-vehicle crash.

 

Preliminary crash information indicates a 2018 Mack CXU600 commercial truck was traveling on the Interstate 90 on-ramp at mile marker 63 when it hit the pedestrian, Ina King, who was walking in the center of the ramp. She suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a Rapid City hospital. She died on Monday, Nov. 7, 2022.

 

Thomas Durbin, Jr., 58, of Box Elder was the truck driver. He was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. No charges are pending against him.

 

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.

 

The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
