Names Released In Lincoln County Fatal Crash




What:    Two-Vehicle Crash

Where:  Interstate 29, mile marker 67

              12 miles south of Sioux Falls, S.D.

When:   9:42 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022


Driver No. 1: Jerry Null, 69, Centerville, S.D., Fatal Injuries

Vehicle: 2022 Subaru Outback Touring SUV


Driver No. 2: Noel Medina, 44, Chaparral, NM, No Injuries

Passenger: Gabriel Herrera, 35, El Paso, TX, No Injuries

Vehicle: 2015 Freightliner TR Semi-truck and Trailer


SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –  A Centerville, S.D., man has been identified as the person who died last Tuesday night in a two-vehicle crash south of Sioux Falls.  


Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2022 Subaru Outback Touring SUV was northbound on Interstate 29 when it left the road, traveled through the median and crashed into the trailer of a southbound 2015 Freightliner TR semi-truck and trailer. The SUV started on fire. Jerry Null, the 69-year-old SUV driver, had to be extricated from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.


Both occupants of the semi-truck were not injured. Noel Medina, 44, of Chaparral, NM, was the driver. Gabriel Herrera, 35, of El Paso, TX was the passenger.


All three people involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts.


South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.


The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
